History

The Faculty of Cybernetics at the Military University of Technology was established in 1968 in response to the growing demand of the Armed Forces and the national economy for specialists in the use of computer science methods and tools in military command and control systems and the direction of combat means, as well as in supporting information-decision processes. Throughout its history, the Faculty of Cybernetics has been a forward-thinking center, both in terms of scientific research and education. The founders of the Faculty accurately assessed that computer science, automation, and operations research would be carriers of progress and indicators of the level of civilization development at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The quality of each academic department is demonstrated by the level of professional preparation of its graduates. Graduates of the Faculty of Cybernetics prove their highest quality in various and important positions in the country and around the world. The attitude and professional and scientific successes of the vast majority of them give the Faculty high marks. Today, the Faculty's teaching and research staff faces new challenges and tasks. One of them is the education, in addition to candidates for professional soldiers, of civilian students, whom the Faculty of Cybernetics began educating in the academic year 1997/1998, initially as part of part-time (part-time and evening) studies, and then also full-time (day) studies. The Faculty of Cybernetics was a forerunner in this field at the Military University of Technology. The Faculty of Cybernetics of the Military University of Technology - as the only university in the country and one of two European universities - has been offering education in the specialty of cryptology since 1996. The Faculty of Cybernetics is therefore a kind of forge of the "heirs" of the Enigma slayers. The establishment of the National Cyberspace Security Center and the state strategy for the defense of cyberspace of the Republic of Poland have generated new challenges for the Department of Cybernetics, regarding the education of candidates for professional soldiers in the field of cryptology for the needs of the National Center for Cyberspace and Armed Forces Security and in the broadly understood counteracting threats in cyberspace. This is inextricably linked to taking part in scientific and research work in the area of cyberspace and in work related to identifying threats and counteracting threats to elements of critical ICT infrastructure and network services important from the point of view of state security and defense. It should be mentioned that the Faculty of Cybernetics has played an excellent role in the security policy of the Armed Forces and the State over the last five years by participating in the implementation of projects in this field and broadly understood national security.
